I’m always at a loss on days like today, Veterans Day. How can we possibly thank the brave men and women who put their lives at risk in order to protect us and defend our freedom? My late father was an Air Force veteran (Korea), and he spoke of his service days infrequently. It was clearly a meaningful time for him, and I can only imagine the mixed emotions one has after being part of a war effort.
My father in law, Emmett Bowman, is a WWII veteran, and just recently opened up to me about his time in the Navy. His tales are almost unbelievable, as he lied about his age and joined the Pacific Theater at only 15 years old. The courage of these heroes is simply awesome and beyond any simple ‘thank you’ I could ever offer. I’m posting the following article for those of you who share my feelings of inefficacy at time like these.
In the meantime, I sincerely thank every man and woman, as well as their families, for their service. We are truly fortunate to be Americans.
