Women Behind the Badge Workshop with IMPD (Saturday, August 5)

Are you a woman looking for a career change? A way to serve your city? Free lunch? The Women Behind the Badge Workshop might be right for you!

The following was received from Ida D. Williams, a Sergeant and Recruiter with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department:

“As the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department strives to increase its diversity, the IMPD Recruiting Unit will host its 2ndWorkshop with the emphasis on the Women Behind the Badge. Historically IMPD has seen a relative low number of female participants seek employment with our department.  We have recognized a need and are reaching out to specifically encourage women between the ages of 21-35 to consider a career in Law Enforcement.  The purpose of the Women Behind the Badge Workshop is to provide an honest insight into what it takes to become a female police officer in the 21stCentury. The workshop is free and will be held on Saturday August 5, 2017 from 9:00 – 2:30 pm at the IMPD Training Academy located at 901 N. Post Road  Indianapolis, IN. Topics will include the hiring process, the benefits and challenges of the career and a mock Physical Agility Test.  This Physical Agility Test will be similar in nature to the one given by IMPD during the actual test.  Space is limited, so please email a recruiter at IMPD_Recruiter@indy.gov or call 317.327.IMPD (4673) to reserve your seat.  Appropriate shoes and attire are strongly encouraged to participate in the physical activity. Lunch will be served.”
